Go ahead--Rent a Hybrid

Thursday June 14, 2007
If you’re a frequent traveler and want to mark the miles in greener way—or if you would like to leave a lighter carbon footprint on your next vacation, Hertz is helping to make it easier. Today marks the day that Hertz made a $1 million donation to the National Park Foundation and unveiled their expanding signature Green Collection. But what does this mean for you?

It means that Hertz will now offer a rental fleet of 3,400 reservable Toyota Prius hybrids that will complement the already 268,000 cars that currently get 28 mpg (or better) fuel mileage in their rental fleet, with another 176,500 cars boasting 34 mpg (or better). So if you find yourself in need of a ride during your next vacation or business trip, here’s an opportunity to try on a hybrid for size. This extends Hertz’s current Green Collection, which has been offering more fuel-efficient models since September of 2006. Thanks, Hertz, for upping the ante to give us more ways to live lighter and travel smarter. Look for the hybrids to become available during this month at 50 major US airports for a starting rate of $50 per weekend day. Go ahead and check out the current hybrids and up-and-coming hybrids … they just may surprise you with their features, ease of use, and best of all: fuel-stretching and budget-stretching ability.
