Road test: 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Duramax Diesel

Sunday August 26, 2007
We just finished up our review of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Duramax diesel pickup truck and we'll tell ya right out: It's big, it's powerful and it's overkill for Joe Average, but ooh laa laa, is it ever fun to drive! Not sure we ever drove a diesel—especially a truck—that had such powerful acceleration. For that we give most of the credit to the variable geometry turbo that just pours on the steam flat out of the hole and keeps on going until the end of its rev limits. Of course, 6.6 liters of bottom end grunt doesn't hurt either.

Like any new vehicle, it had its shortcomings too, so check out our 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD review and see what we thought of this truck. And be sure to peruse the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD test drive photo gallery for pictures and detailed descriptions—from engine bay to tailpipe—of its clean diesel hardware.
