Workin' Trucks Go Green - the 2008 Miles ZX40ST
Monday October 15, 2007
Sure, we've heard it time and time again: it's the little things that count most. Well, it seems that sentiment applies to the automotive sector now more than ever. Zero emissions electric vehicles can not only slash fuel usage (see our top 7 fuel saving tips), they can save emissions and cash. They're another part of the answer. According to a press release from Miles Electric Vehicles, replacing just one gas-powered truck with a Miles zero-emission work truck (model ZX40ST) can eliminate 12,000 pounds of carbon emissions in one year. And not only is this a no-gasoline-needed truck, it also touts minimal maintenance and is reportedly one-tenth as expensive to operate as a conventional truck. Now that's a winner in our book. The ZX40ST features a 3 phase induction AC motor that can go 50-60 miles on only one charge--and it's said to have satisfying power and hill climbing ability. Could your maintenance or delivery fleet need an update for our greener future? Kudos to Miles Electric for tapping into a need for cleaner transportation and helping to power the electric vehicle revolution.
