The Living Lightly Tour

Scott recently had the opportunity to spend a few minutes chatting with a delightful young couple who has a deep passion for the environment. Best of all, they walk their talk. Matt and Sara Janssen and their young daughter Bella are traveling across America in a vegetable oil powered RV spreading the word about sustainable living. They’ve dubbed this expedition the “Living Lightly Tour,” and Matt and Sara say “we love living small … we love living sustainably … and we love teaching others how to do it for themselves. So we’re on the road to spread the love.”

The family made the first stop of the tour in Coralville, Iowa on September 17 and Scott caught up with them in Marietta, PA on Sunday, November 4th. Matt mentioned that they stop at a lot of Mom and Pop type eateries, tell their story and ask if the owners would like to donate their waste fryer oil to fuel the RV. And they are usually only too happy to comply. Matt and Sara pump the fryer oil into the RV’s built-in custom filtering and storage system, and then they are on their way again to another town.
