Electricity at the LA Auto Show
Tuesday November 20, 2007
The LA Auto Show runs all this week (ends 11/25), and so far, it's been quite the AFV fest. That's Alternative Fuel Vehicle, not America's Funniest Videos. Things are really hopping on the hybrid electric and fuel cell electric fronts—with a fistful of 2009 (to be released in mid - late 2008) two-mode hybrid truck/SUV announcements and a couple of fuel cell vehicles being strutted about.Looks like both GM and Chrysler have dived deeply into the hybrid waters with their two-modes. Chevrolet shows off its up-and-coming Silverado Hybrid, which will join the recently released '08 Tahoe (named Green Car Journal's Green Car of the Year) and Yukon hybrids. Not to be outdone, Chrysler is right in lockstep, brandishing their own Hybrid SUV duo--the Chrysler Aspen Hybrid and Dodge Durango Hybrid.
And still more electrics: Honda showcases its fuel cell electric FCX Clarity, and GM is at it again with their own fuel cell powered Equinox FCEV. Both of these vehicles will be in select cities in limited numbers throughout 2008.We have photo galleries and technical details of all of the LA show Alt Fuelers in the works, so hold tight and keep thine eyes peeled.
