Road Test: 2008 Chevrolet Silverado LT2 flex-fuel Truck
Wednesday January 2, 2008
The engineers at GM have done a lot of things right with their big V-8s. From the powerful, but pleasantly efficient 6.6L-liter workhorse Duramax diesel, through the 6.0-liter that's mated to their venerable two-mode hybrid drivetrains, all the way to the economical (for a V-8) flex-fuel with Active Fuel Management 5.3-liter. Yeah, they still have a few big engines that need some fuel economy help, but things are definitely headed in the right direction. So, we were anticipating testing the E85 economy limits of the good ole 5.3 when we received our 2008 Chevrolet Silverado LT2 flex-fuel for a test drive and review. As our Silverado LT2 photo gallery attests, this is a gorgeous truck, and that is all well and good, but what about the numbers? How'd she do? All show and no go? Read on for the skinny.
