Happy 100, GM
Thursday January 10, 2008
It's no small feat in the world of car manufacturers (or any world, really) to celebrate centenary status. A long life. One that's seen trials and tribulations. One that has persevered--and survived. And it looks like GM has been working hard to take those vitamins and stay with the times. Not ready to break open the bubbly and rest on its laurels, GM has been busy with going "Gas-Friendly to Gas-Free." What's that, you say? Well, it's GM's newest motto in offering fuel solutions. They call it "fuel efficiency with a choice." According to GM, it's all part of a six prong plan that dovetails beautifully with what we write about here everyday:
- Chevy offers more alt fuel vehicles than any other company--yep, check out how many of these 2008 E85 flex-fuel models are from GM.
- They offer 7 models that can claim 30 mpg or more.
- Active Fuel Management is their trademark name for cylinder deactivation--and saving more fuel.
- The 2-mode hybrid is here to stay.
- Check out the Volt: it's a popular concept that offers gas-free plug-in ability.
- Fuel cells: It's what the future holds - and GM is there with the Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell Vehicle.
