Chattin' with GM
Wednesday February 6, 2008
So today we had the opportunity to sit in on a chat with GM's Green Guy, Brent Dewar (he's also their North America Vice President of Field Sales, Service and Parts). In the first online chat in a series, Dewar said that these times were set up to discuss environmental issues, namely GM's corporate policies and actions in relationship to those issues. During the hour chat, Dewar fielded questions about ethanol, hydrogen and GM's approach to the CAFE standard. At one point there were about 50 people online, and over 20 questions in the queue. Whew! A lot was covered. So what did we learn? Basically the message conveyed was that GM stands strong in its commitment "to find automotive solutions that find a balance to Energy-Environment-Economics." What Dewar referred to as the three Es. And that's naturally where our interest lies since it all touches upon alt fuels like biodiesel, ethanol and hydrogen - and electric-hybrid vehicle options.
So if you, like us, are curious to learn more about GM's green stance - and their Green Guy - check out their GMNext website. And perhaps you'll want to tune in for the next chat and ask those questions that have been on your mind.
