2008 Electric Vehicles Available Now

Friday February 15, 2008
With all the hullabaloo surrounding the up-and-coming plug-in hybrids--and modern society's common perception that cars need to power-up on a liquid-based fuel, we've been thinkin' lately that pure electrics are getttin' the short end of the stick. Yes, that's right. There are all-electric cars available here and now. They offer zero emissions, economical cost-of-use and reduced dependence upon foreign oil. The biggest current con is limited driving range and recharge time -- but it's only a matter of perseverance, patience and time until that issue is surmounted also.

Would an electric car accommodate your lifestyle or driving needs? Are you one of the many people who drive less than 25 miles per day ... or are most of those miles logged within the limits of a town or city? Perhaps an all-electric would fit your needs. Check out this list of 2008 all-electric cars that are available right now. Would you seriously consider parking any of these out front? Why or why not?

Yes, I would most definitely park “one of these” outfront, and be proud of it.I already own 1 electric scooter, and I display and explain it to every person with the slightest interrest in it.Unfortunately, in Eastern Europe, where I live, the big, luxurious gas guzzlers are the ultimate display of high lifestyle, and electrics are not popular. With my 900euro/month income, the pricetag is the ultimate issue for me.Ontop of all, local legislation will not allow me to convert a gas car to electric and drive on public road without a complicated 3000euro omologation procedure, and paying this price wouldn’t guarranty the aproval.I am currently looking for a used electric car with street approval(EU) and cheap enough for me.
