4-10-08: 2008 Altima Hybrid Update & Log

Time for our monthly update on our most recent addition to the alt fuel fleet--as you may remember, we purchased a new hybrid when our 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid test drive and review week (along with the 2008 test drive) left us wanting more.

Mileage: 3875

Fuel economy: 36.0 mpg

Had a little scare the other week when an officer of the law (complete with flashing lights and siren) revved up behind me. “That’s it,” I thought. “Now I know I’ve really been enjoying this car too much.” I pulled over with a little self-recrimination. After he had zoomed by—chasing some other hapless soul—I breathed a huge sigh of relief, and promised to pay closer attention to the speed limits. This car is so much fun to drive that it can be all too easy to speed.

Weather conditions: Spring is here for sure. On sunny days central PA has seen 65 degrees which makes that hybrid system purr with satisfaction, the EV mode kicking on more often and for longer periods of time, with the beautiful sunshine helping to keep the operating system up to temperature.

Maintenance/Repairs: Stopped by our local Nissan dealer for the Altima’s complimentary 100-point check up. The grade? A+ and all was well. --Christine
