Hybridfest - July 19 and 20, 2008

Friday July 18, 2008
It's time for the hybrid car event that's held annually the third weekend of July in Madison, Wisconsin: Hybridfest. And it sounds like a clean car lover's paradise. There are over 200 hybrids on site, vehicle test drives, exhibitors and speakers, along with special activities like the MPG Challenge, in which the best hypermiling drivers compete. The goal: To achieve the best percentage over the EPA's estimates for each hybrid vehicle, as compared to other drivers in the division. And this event is not limiting itself to only regular hybrids: the fest is expanding to include plug-in hybrids and other alt fuelers that power up on ethanol, biodiesel, clean diesel, electric, hydrogen, and more. Speaker topics this year include Biofuels 101, Hybrids and Efficient Driving, Five Easy and Safe Ways to Improve Fuel Economy, Fleet Use of Hybrid and Alt fuel Vehicles, and The Campaign to Commercialize Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles.

Where: Dane County Fair at the Alliant Energy Center, Madison, Wisconsin

When: 10AM to 5PM - Saturday and 12 Noon to 5 PM - Sunday

Who: Open to kids and adults alike - admission is free for children 5 and under, $3 for ages 6-11, and $6 for everyone 12 and over
