Power up on Vegetable Oil: Sustainable Cross-Country Fuel
Friday July 25, 2008
If you happen to see a big black bus with some eye-catching graphics, take a second look ... it just might be the Conscious Goods Alliance (CGA) Bus as it makes its third trip cross-country. Lest you think this is any ole regular tour bus, think again. This bus was—according to the company press release—eco-configured with totally sustainable materials: bamboo interior, coconut palm floors, solar powered electronics and more. It’s a bus that’s traveled 8,000 miles around the U.S. on 725 gallons of vegetable oil. And if you do the math (the bus gets about 11 mpg), you see how little petrol diesel was burned in this engine. Gotta love it—and we just had to know more. Check out Kopali Organics and CGA co-founder Zak Zaidman’s answers to the veggie oil bus tour questions we threw his way.
