2009 Honda Civic GX Natural Gas Vehicle -- Test Drive and Review

Thursday January 8, 2009
Every time I talk about the Honda Civic GX Natural Gas Vehicle, I think of the Rolling Stones song, Jumpin' Jack Flash. My thoughts follow the lyrics and go something like this: "But it's all right now, in fact, it's a gas ... the Civic GX NVG really is ... "it's a gas, gas, gas."

That's a stretch isn't it? Yeah, I thought so. Anyway, it really is a fun little car to drive, and the exhaust emissions? One word: sparkling! Really, the only thing cleaner would be a hydrogen powered car--and they sure are far and few between at this juncture.

Here at Hybrid Cars and Alt Fuels, we test drove the little gem back in '06 and just plain fell in love. The handling ... the frugal fuel sippin' natural gas engine ... the (practically) odorless exhaust ... Naturally then, we wanted to test-out Honda's latest and greatest. Try as we might though, it was a struggle without success to set up another test drive here in the South Central Pennsylvania boonies (the only close public CNG station is shuttered), so we asked our Los Angeles based About.com Cars Guide--Aaron Gold--to do the honors. Luckily, our affable friend agreed. Check out Aaron's test drive and review of the 2009 Honda Civic GX Natural Gas Vehicle, and see if he got all moon-eyed like us. --Scott
