2010 Honda Insight Test Drive and Review
Sunday January 11, 2009
Ya knew it was only going to be a matter of time. With the Toyota Prius running roughshod (at least in total sales volume) over just about every other hybrid on the market, Honda just had to do something. They brought the first hybrid to America back in '99 with the little two-seater Insight, but after a few years of sluggish sales, they killed the program. Big mistake! Finding itself with no real bang-for-the-buck competition, the Prius reigned supreme year after year.Well, no more! Honda has brought the Insight back with a vengeance, and if we were to give the execs at Toyota two words of advice, well, they'd be: "Watch out." The new Insight is decked out in 5-door hatchback convention very much like the beloved Prius, and the folks at Honda plan to market the bejesus out of this little guy--and of course they're aiming for Prius demographics.
The little hybrid is not yet in dealer showrooms (due out later in 2009 as a 2010 model), but our colleague Aaron Gold of About.com Cars fame got an early shot at it. Check out Aaron's test drive and review of the 2010 Honda Insight and see how this little upstart looks at first blush.
