When its all said & done: One mean alt fuel machine
Well, we love that dieselsure, its a clean diesel (ULSD) and biodiesel engine, to boot. It purrs with satisfaction whether its climbing a steep grade or cruisin down the interstate. But fuel economy in the 20s pinches. Yeah, we know a regular ole Jeep Cherokee is only rated at 14/19and thats really sad toobut we just cant get our heads around the frictional losses of the full-time four-wheel drive. No matter which way it's sliced, that's hard to swallow. We know folks love their 4WD for those snowy icy daysbut unless you live in the treacherous hills or have gravelly washed out roads to pass as a daily matter of course, wed say go for the 2WD. Of course, if you have the bucks, and your conscience allows you to burn up the extra fuel as a daily driver, this Grand Cherokee might fit the bill. Then again, even if youre filling up with B5, alternative fuels dont negate the wise use of resources. Conservation, efficiency and the wise use of resources is another big part of the answer that will help us solve the pickle were in.
