Under the hood is a 3.0L V-6 mated to 12 kW electric motor that together pour out 253 horsepower. The engine features Variable Cylinder Management (VCM), Honda's version of cylinder deactivation that disables the rear bank of cylinders (essentially making it into a 3-cylinder engine) under light cruising conditions. This technology allows the engine to work like a high-powered V-6 when maximum acceleration is needed or a straight 3 when economical cruising is called for. Note the high-voltage hybrid electric cables that are color coded in bright orange casing for safety. Scott is pointing to a service disconnect in the cable harness.
