Merging into traffic sometimes calls for a foot planted just a little more deeply in the throttle. In this instance, the assist bar gauge is nearly pegged, indicating all 15 or so of the electric motor's horsepower are pouring on to help the engine get the Accord up to speed in a hurry. While the motor isn't powerful enough to drive the car independently, as long as the battery has ample charge, the motor is always available for assist.
