Hybrids and alt fuels? You bet. Hybrids have tapped into the common sense of using less. And any vehicles that use less fuel--alternative or not--are A-1 in our book. And the Prius has been popular for good reason. Since the Generation II was released worldwide in 2000, there have been over 100,000 sold, and according to Toyota, they have NEVER had to replace a battery due to wear and tear. The current model is part of Generation III (released 2003), and although it's aesthetically different, it uses the same petrol engine with increased power output--and with 56.5/mpg for local motoring and 64/mpg for long trips, that's not too shabby for a gasoline-based hybrid. Yes, it gets our vote.
